The "Busy Mom/Parents" Syndrome

A couple of months ago a lady at my ward busted out her calendar to pencil in a VT appointment and I was shocked to see all the different colors and lists of things she had to do each day. She only has 3 kids and I was thinking, seriously? OMGoodness! Well, I think I can understand better now.

For the next 2.5 months I am married to "Harold Hill" of The Music Man. Luke auditioned for our stake play, got the lead and now has rehearsals 4 nights a week and Saturday mornings until March 21st.

I now have cub scouts and the primary, which, holy cow! A much bigger calling than I've ever expected! I think I'm still in shock. I have a whole new respect for all primary presidencies in the world.

Oh and Lily has been potty training. Today is her 3rd day and so far so good! Very exciting! Her first couple of days she had accidents here and there, but was about 80%. I've gone to the extreme today and decided that bare bottoms isn't such a bad thing as long as I get her to be at 100%

Today is also Arya's first birthday, which we are postponing to celebrate till Saturday. I was a little sad about that, but since I have my first cub scouts meeting tonight and Luke has play practice from right after work till past Arya's bedtime, we really didn't have a choice.

I think I now understand why we all get so busy no matter what stage of life we're in. Busy people tend to stay busy and I'm excited for new challenges and new busy-ness in life!

  1. Wow exciting to have a husband who is the leading man! You are definitely right - once you reach a certain level of "busyness" you can't go back. I won't list all that keeps my life sometimes "too" full, but I will say that you can decide which moments you will defiantly not give up (FHE night, after school before dinner, most/many Sunday evenings, scripture time) where the phone and computers are ignored. I love being busy and am addicted to it and sometimes take on too much (and being Primary Prez doesn't help!) but I also think life is meant to be lived to the fullest and being busy is a good thing as long as there is a BALANCE and kids/family come first. It sounds like you guys have a great life!

  2. Congrats to Luke! What a great thing to be a part of and worth a little "busyness" on everyone's part, I think. Very cool.
