My Embarrassing Story for 2009 (and it's only the beginning...)

So, today I had to call the pediatrician about a prescription for Arya. The office usually sends people to a mail box and asks that you leave detailed information about who you are and why you are calling. So, here I am, being extremely careful with each word that I'm saying, spelling out Arya's name slowly, so that they can look up Arya's file, etc. And then came the moment to end my message, and what did I say to end the message? "In the name of Jesus Christ Amen." That's right, that's how I ended my message to the nurse at my pediatricians office. I had NO idea what I was thinking!!! So embarrassing!!!

For All the Soup Lovers

I tried this recipe last night and Luke LOVED it. Which says something about it since soup isn't exactly his favorite thing for dinner.

Tortellini Sausage Soup

3 links Italian Sausage (or 1 lb Italian Sausage)
2-4 cloves garlic
1 sm onion diced
1/2 cup water
2 (15 oz) cans chicken broth
1 (16 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 (8oz) can tomato sauce
1 cup diced carrots
2 med. grated zucchini
1 tsp dry basil
1 tsp oregano
1 (10 oz) bag cheese tortellini
2 T parsley
Grated Parmesan Cheese

Brown sausage, garlic and onion. Add all other ingredients except the zucchini, tortellini and parsley. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients. Simmer 30 more minutes. Top each serving with Parmesan cheese. ENJOY!

The "Busy Mom/Parents" Syndrome

A couple of months ago a lady at my ward busted out her calendar to pencil in a VT appointment and I was shocked to see all the different colors and lists of things she had to do each day. She only has 3 kids and I was thinking, seriously? OMGoodness! Well, I think I can understand better now.

For the next 2.5 months I am married to "Harold Hill" of The Music Man. Luke auditioned for our stake play, got the lead and now has rehearsals 4 nights a week and Saturday mornings until March 21st.

I now have cub scouts and the primary, which, holy cow! A much bigger calling than I've ever expected! I think I'm still in shock. I have a whole new respect for all primary presidencies in the world.

Oh and Lily has been potty training. Today is her 3rd day and so far so good! Very exciting! Her first couple of days she had accidents here and there, but was about 80%. I've gone to the extreme today and decided that bare bottoms isn't such a bad thing as long as I get her to be at 100%

Today is also Arya's first birthday, which we are postponing to celebrate till Saturday. I was a little sad about that, but since I have my first cub scouts meeting tonight and Luke has play practice from right after work till past Arya's bedtime, we really didn't have a choice.

I think I now understand why we all get so busy no matter what stage of life we're in. Busy people tend to stay busy and I'm excited for new challenges and new busy-ness in life!

Too Much "Do" for a 2.5 year old?

So, I was running around frantic this morning trying to get ready for yet another marathon Primary Presidency meeting, and I decided I needed to do something with Lily's long mane of hair. Her hair has these natural curls that are gorgeous, but also looks completely messy if I don't do something with it. So I threw it up and thought it was so cute that I had to take a picture. Though now I'm wondering if it's just a little too grown up for such a little girl. From the front she looked like my little ballerina. So cute!
